St Mark’s Primary School offers opportunities for short-term (from one week) and for longer periods of study.
All International Students enrolling in Years 1 to 6 of a Primary School for longer than three calendar months must live and continue to live with a parent, except in the case of Group Students, as per the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students (2003).

Application Requirements
- Student Enrolment Form
- Copy of Passport Title Page
- Copy of Visitors Visa or Student Visa/Permit
- Passport size photograph of student
- Verification of Travel and Medical Insurance or completed Insurance Application
Enrolment Application Procedure
- Upon arrival in New Zealand, the International Student’s parents completes the Student Enrolment form.
- Once the application has been approved and payment of fees is made, a receipt is issued with a letter to the Immigration Department for the processing of a Student Visa
Conditions of Acceptance
- St Mark’s Primary School accepts International Student from Year 0 to 6.
- All International Students must be living with a parent at the time of enrolment and continue to live with a parent for the duration of their enrolment period.
- International Students will only be accepted if there is sufficient space available for International Students, at the relevant year level, in the school.
- All International Students attending St Mark’s Primary School must have Travel and Medical Insurance cover for the duration of their enrolment period.
Program Details
Students are assessed on entry to St Mark’s School using a variety of assessment tools. They are then grouped according to their ability and needs to ensure their programme and their progress is meaningful. An ongoing assessment programme will be maintained, to closely monitor individual achievement and progress.
Transition Programme
Parents/whanau & students will be shown around the school by the Secretary or Principal. The student will be buddied with students from their class. Students will receive ESOL – English Language tuition in a 1:1 or small group situation to build their vocabulary and knowledge of New Zealand.
Mainstream Programme
This programme is a fully integrated programme in a mainstreamed New Zealand educational setting, covering all aspects on the New Zealand Government Curriculum.

IMMIGRATION:

ELIGIBILITY FOR HEALTH SERVICES:
Most international students are not entitled to publicly funded health services while in New Zealand. If you receive medical treatment during your visit, you may be liable for the full costs of that treatment. Full details on entitlements to publicly funded health services are available through the Ministry of Health, and can be viewed on their website at http://www.moh.govt.nz
ACCIDENT INSURANCE:
The Accident Compensation Commission provides accident insurance for all New Zealand citizens, residents and temporary visitors to New Zealand, but you may still be liable for all other medical and related costs. Further information can be viewed on the ACC website at http://acc.co.nz
MEDICAL AND TRAVEL INSURANCE:
International students must have appropriate and current medical and travel insurance while studying in New Zealand.
THE PROCESS OF ENTRY INTO ST MARK’S SCHOOL FOR FAMILY AND WHANAU:
A) Contact the school and advise of what dates you would like to study at St Mark’s
B) Complete the St Mark’s Application for Enrolment Form
C) Complete the International Student Enrolment Form
D) Have the ‘Preference Certificate’ completed and signed by a Catholic Priest (if the
child is a Catholic)
E) Provide copy of Baptismal Certificate (if the child is Catholic)
F) Provide evidence of a New Zealand Health Insurance cover.
G) Provide evidence of an Immunisation Certificate of the student to be enrolled
H) Come into the school (where possible) and meet with Mrs Kerrie Hunt (PA/School
Secretary) and/or Mrs Kopua (Principal).
I) If points B to G are approved by the Principal a further set of school documents will
be given to you for further completion.
J) Offer or decline of a place
K) Acceptance and Fees
L) On receipt of the acceptance and full fees being paid, the school will send you a
confirmation letter which is required for you to apply for a student visa.
M) On presentation of your Visa your enrolment is complete and a starting date will be
confirmed.
